How we can help
The SACP National Childline is a service of high social importance. It puts children's interests first and fulfils their right to counselling, information and protection from all forms of abuse and violence.
The main aim and task of the counsellors of the Line is to provide a safe space for sharing, to reduce the force of action of currently experienced unwanted thoughts and emotions and to provide psychological support. This support is intended to mobilise all coping strengths and encourage seeking further professional help if necessary.
Anyone who calls 116 111 can get information about the services available in the country to support children and families, and when a child at risk is identified, assistance is provided to take timely protective measures.
The service shall be provided subject to the following principles:
- Affordability - the service is round the clock, completely free and with nationwide coverage;
- Confidentiality - the caller can remain anonymous and the information they share remains confidential;
- Tolerance - the personality and dignity of the caller is respected, as are their opinions, views and beliefs;
- Voluntariness - the caller provides information at will and can end the call at any time.
